since it tends to rain on the cape, and people do not eat or drink on a beach when it rains, no waitressing takes place. thus i have been working at the front desk of the hotel for the past two days. storytimeeeeeee...
so on day 1, 180 people checked out of the hotel. today was day 2, and 1 person checked in and 1 person checked out over a span of nine please-chop-my-head-off-or-i-will-die-from-boredom hours. the only major crisis i faced (aside from the guest that asked for dinner recommendations while i googled it right in front of him and bs'ed my way through the best restaurants in town. i hope he doesnt get food poisoning.) was when the only check-in wanted a better view of the ocean. in my natural state, i was inclined to handle the situation with, oh let me just move the ocean a little closer to your room. howeverrrr, the ever-hospitable alan within me kicked in, and instead i gave them a "better" room. i've decided that working the front desk at the hotel is considerably easier than working the front desk at the hospital, where crises were a lil more in-your-face, aka women in labor screaming at me to page doctors (they were probably thinking that the louder they scream, the more drugs they would get. which was probably true.)
the downside of front desk is THERE ARE NO CHAIRS. my feet went numb somewhere around hour 4 today. i swear im not being lazy; standing up in one place for nine hours has to be far harder than running a marathon barefoot. exhibit a: tonight donatello asked me if i wished i had a book at work, and i was like, I WISH I HAD A CHAIR b/c when i got out of the car after driving home, i hobbled into the house and i still couldnt feel my toes. then i bribed miranda 2.5 m&m cookies to carry my stuff into the house for me. miranda is the hero of the day.

Wuss i could stand up for days and still be fine. try sitting in a chair all day under an umbrella. now thats hard. oh wait and we have to rotate between 4 pools every fifteen minutes and after the 4 pools we get a 45 minute break. man THATS HARD.
stop being such a baby. jesh
can you steal a chair from somewhere or bring a folding chair from home? frank, you're so mean! haha. But soon, I will have to trek through forests and dig up roots, which is rather hardcore.
le franq, that was hilarious. rlew, that was hilarious. you definitely gave soobs and i a laugh.
i don't know how you stand for 9 hrs at a time because when i went to the jm concert, i stood for five hours and i was about to die. but at least i was in ecstasy the entire time.
plus you work more than 8 hrs a day... that's intense. i'll remember that a bribe for miranda takes 2.5 m&m cookies. comin' to dux preparedd
