karate for the elderly

the administration here forces all freshmen to take PE classes, because they're afraid we're all going to get morbidly obese and then our parents won't pay for a meal plan next year and then they lose money. or at least that's my theory. anyway, long story short, we get assigned our PE class by a lottery and i ended up in tai chi at 9am.

tai chi was fine with me. it was good for my schedule and does not require going back to my dorm to shower, since i'd be lucky if we burned 1.5 calories during the whole hour. these benefits are still legit 2 weeks later, except that i'm starting to get bored like 3 minutes into the class.

a week ago, a guy joined the class. im not talking about a girl that looks like a guy, but a legit, 6 foot tall, member of the male species. what motivates him to trek across campus at 9 am confused me at first. it is understandable to come to our dining hall for the better food and a favorable guy:girl ratio, but tai chi? really? ummmmmmm NO.

i was sleepwalking the last few classes, but today i had caffeine, so I was capable of investigating his motivation. here's my field notes:

*with partner #1, he chats up a storm. meanwhile, the rest of the gym is silent.
*with partner #2, he acts intrigued by her every word. which he does not pull off very smoothly, cuz even she looks surprised by this.
*as for partner #3, the girl was either deathly ill or a complete zombie. too bad for her, this guy knows no limits. he proceeded to ask her eight million questions about her interest in tai chi. when she didnt respond, he followed up with more questions and "witty" comments. i kept watching in hopes that she would slap him or something. unfortunately, she didnt have enough energy to do so. maybe next class tho.

thus i arrived at my conclusion. as expected, he was just there to mack on the girls. apparently tai chi is more than just karate for the elderly.

This guy has some guts. I don't know many guys that would actually want to do tai chi, let alone in a class where they are the only male member.
You should keep us updated and let us know if this poor sucker actually gets lucky.
If only "Its Debateable" could pull that off...

hahaha thats hilarious. tai chi is supposed to be really good for you i think! like..okay yeah i was just about to give you an explanation but im not actually sure why. you have partners in tai chi? so...are you planning to slap him if he tries small talk with you?
i took partner dance as a gym class in high school...and there was one guy there who didnt want to be there (the other guys wanted to be there...not for the girls though)and i felt really bad for him. also cuz our teacher was kinda ridiculous and made us do like weird dance things
and imagine you were planning to have 8am gym..even tai chi would not be plausible at 8 am.
see you soon haha. glad that tai chi didnt wear you out today.

Wow i can't believe you don't know why he's there. one hint: TO PICK UP GIRLS! my whole team went to yoga at barnard cause it was "good for rugby" but really we were just hitting on chicks. and don't hate on tai chi. you just suck at it. its the art of my ancestors.

Are you sure that this guy isn't Le Franq?

0900 is quite the commitment, i must say. what a prowler. 39 has a point, it could be le franq. his workouts aren't enough for him, apparently.

in other news, there was a huge breakthrough collaborative today in the ultripti lounge. more later.

wow you guys, if it was me, i would've actually gotten the girl, as windancer stated the dude failed epically so CLEARLY it couldn't have been me.

Want to update windancer?
